Ziyarats In & Around Uzbekistan

Memorial Complex Zangi-ota:

Located just 20 km from the center of the capital. Built in the time of Tamerlan, the mausoleum was initially built in honor of Ahmed Yasavi, but the construction did not survive, as the wall of the building constantly crumbled. Locals say that once Yasavi himself appeared to Tamerlane in his dream and said that the monument should be built in honor of his faithful follower Ai Khoja. The mausoleum was completed, and in the XIV century a madrassah and a mosque were built.

Hazrat Imam Complex:

Known as Hast-Imam located in an old residential district of Tashkent, Sibzar. The complex of historical and architectural monuments formed around Mazar Kaffallya ash-Shashi – the first Imam and preacher of Islam in Tashkent, he was also the famous theologian and linguist, after whom the complex was named “Hazrat Imam” (“The Holy Imam”).

Khast Imam Complex:

One of the oldest structures of Khast Imam complex is the Muyi Muborak madrasah (“Sacred Hair”). The Muyi Muborak madrasah built in the 16th century, is also distinguished by its unique history. The hair of the Prophet Muhammad{SAW} is stored in this madrasah. Currently, the Muyi Muborak Madrasah houses the library of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, which has a collection of about 20 thousand books, including about 3 thousand manuscripts and translations of the Koran in more than 30 languages.

The most unique manuscript stored in the library is the “Uthman Koran” (“The Quran of Osman”), dated 644-648 years.

Ichan-qala Fortress - Unesco World Heritage:

The town that is completely surrounded by brick city walls, has four gates at the cardinal points.

Ichan-Qala presents unique examples of moslem architecture in the Djuma mosque and the many medressehs.

Maqams Of Some Great Sufi Saints Of Bukhara:

Bukhara is the birthplace of the seven great Sufis of the Nakshbandi order. The great representatives of Sufism lived here, led religious and social life, which contributed to the formation and prosperity of the fertile Bukhara, to the education of spirituality, raising the emotional spirit. The Muslim sanctuaries, the burial places of Sufi saints can be found here.

Ark Fotress:

The Ark of Bukhara is a big fortress located in the city of Bukhara. Initially built and occupied around the 5th century AD. In addition to being a military structure, the Ark encompassed what was essentially a town that, during much of the fortress’s history, was inhabited by the various royal courts that held sway over the region surrounding Bukhara

Trading Domes, Bukhara:

Bukhara is known to the world not only with its mosques, Ark Fortress and the majestic Kalyan minaret but also with its trading domes stretching in procession from Lyabi-Khauz to the Miri-Arab madrasah. Located on the Great Silk Road, the markets and trading stores even more congested cross-roads of public roads. Several centuries passed since that and four trading domes have only survived up to date.

The Mausoleum Of Imam Al-bukhari (Muhammad Ibn Ismail Al-bukhari):

A domed shrine of Imam Bukhari located inside of the large courtyard of the main shrine complex. Today the tomb of Imam Bukhari is part of a completely refurbished religious-complex just outside of the city of Bukhara.
Imam Bukhari is best known for his authoritative collection of hadith of the prophet Muhammad {SAW}, Known for his remarkable memory.
