Hajj

“And proclaim the pilgrimage to the people. They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they shall come from every deep ravine”. (Hajj: 27)

The fifth pillar of Islam is to perform a pilgrimage (Hajj) to Makkah, in Saudi Arabia, at least once in a lifetime. This pillar is obligatory for every Muslim, male or female, subject to that he or she is physically and financially able to do so.

Abu Hurairah (RA) said: “I heard the Prophet (PBUH) say: ‘Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not have sexual relations (with his wife), commit sin, or dispute unjustly (during the Hajj), will come back like the day his mother gave birth to him.’” (Bukhari: 1521, Muslim: 1350).

Hajj is considered as the ultimate form of worship, as it involves the spirit of all the other rituals and demands of the believer. On this blessed occasion, up to 3 million Muslims from all over the globe gather at one blessed place asking the forgiveness from Allah (SWT). ALL pilgrims wear special clothes (Ihram) two unsown white sheets, which strips away all distinctions of wealth, status, class and culture; all standing together and equal for the sake Allah (SWT).

The rites of Hajj, which go back to the time of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) who built the Kaaba, are observed over five or six days, beginning on the eighth day of the last month (of the Islamic Calendar) of the year, named Dhu al-Hijjah.

These rites include circumambulating the Kaaba (Tawaf) and walking or lightly jogging back and forth between the hills of Safa and Marwa seven times (Sa'i), as Hajar (Prophet Ibrahim’s wife) did during her seek for water for her son Ismail. Then the pilgrims stand together on the wide plain of Arafah and join in prayers for God's forgiveness. The pilgrims also cast stones at a stone pillar which represents Satan. The Hajj ends with a festival, called Eid Al-Adha, which is celebrated with prayers, the sacrifice of an animal, and the exchange of greetings and gifts in Muslim communities around the globe.

Types of Hajj

The way in which hajj can be performed depends on where the pilgrim lives or whether they intend to perform Umrah along with Hajj or whether one wants to offer an animal sacrifice or not. These variations have been classified into three categories and referred to as the three types or methods of Hajj: Hajj al-Ifrad, Hajj al-Qiran and Hajj al-Tamattu. Thus, Al-Amanah Hajj & Umrah, provides a flexible choice to all pilgrims to select the type or method of hajj 2024 they desire to perform through all our 5 star hajj packages 2024 and economy hajj packages 2024 from the UK.

In this form of Hajj, a pilgrim enters the state of the Ihram for Umrah only first before subsequently entering ihram for hajj upon reaching Makkah the pilgrim performs Tawaf and Sa'i for Umrah, and then exits the status of Ihram after shaving or clipping the hair. Then on the eighth of Dhu al-Hijjah, the pilgrim enters the status of Ihram for Hajj only and performs all the rites and duties of Hajj. pilgrim performs this form of Hajj called Mutamatti.

Pilgrims performing this form of Hajj is called Mufrid.

Hajj al-Qiran

In this form of Hajj, a pilgrim enters the state of the Ihram with the intention of performing both Hajj and Umrah together. Or entering the status of Ihram for Umrah first and incorporating the intention to perform hajj.
